My name is Dakeena O. Jones, and I need a living kidney donor. I am a 52-year-old single mother of an incredible 13-year-old son, Zeke, he's the apple of my eye!
In 2021, I was informed that I was in kidney failure due to Covid. I spent twelve days in the hospital. I didn't think that I would survive, but God had other plans for me, I'm still here and still fighting!!! Chronic kidney disease is a problem that I have been dealing with for 4 years. Unfortunately, over time my kidney disease has continued to progress to the extent that I will need a kidney transplant. I cannot describe the physical and emotional toll that being in the state of kidney failure has taken on me and those closes to me; to say it is hard and a challenge is an understatement. However, I trust God implicitly, and I know that I will come out victorious on the other side of this journey.
I've been on peritoneal dialysis since June of 2023. Peritoneal dialysis allows me to perform life sustaining dialysis at home during my hours of sleep. This allows me to have some normalcy to my life during the day, I can get my son to school, complete chores when I'm physically able to, and run errands. Peritoneal dialysis has truly been a blessing in allowing me to feel a bit better physical than I did before, but I'm still left feeling tired and fatigued.
Being present for and with my son is everything to me! We love taking weekend trips, going to the movies, riding bikes and going to the beach. Being on dialysis hinders my activities daily, as well as being able to provide for my son. I look forward day that I can get my normal life back. It would be a blessing to be able to enjoy life without constant concerns for my health. I am on the waiting list for a kidney transplant however, that can often take years to find a match. I am hoping to find a living donor in order to benefit my health and improve my quality of life. A living donor transplant would mean so much to me because living donor kidneys often last longer and would provide me the opportunity to get back to a normal like with my son sooner. I would be grateful if you could help me find a match by getting tested or sharing this information with your own network of friends, family and community.
