Adel Kanaan

Getting a transplant and regaining my health wouldn't just mean getting back to my life. It would mean getting back to living!

Hi, I'm Adel. After 50 years of working, I finally retired last year and live with my wife, Ronna in Fairfield, Connecticut. I am a proud dad of two grown sons and I have four amazing grandchildren.

Five years ago I was diagnosed with kidney failure and unfortunately, the disease has spread rapidly. As the disease has progressed, my physical health has taken a big hit. I'm tired most of the time and I'm increasingly unable to do the things I'm passionate about: working in my garden, traveling internationally and exploring the world, and spending time with my family... especially my three beautiful granddaughters and baby grandson. I have good days, but they're fewer and farther between.

The only way to regain my health is a living kidney. As I write this, my eGFR is 9; it should be 60. I'm hoping this testimonial will reach someone who is able to donate a kidney to me. My need for a living kidney is immediate and critical. I've been on a waiting list for almost two years and my doctors tell me I could have another 2-3 years before one becomes available. If I don't receive a kidney soon, I will have to start dialysis before the new year.

Getting a transplant and regaining my health wouldn't just mean getting back to my life. It would mean getting back to living! It would mean being able to take my grandchildren to the playground, gardening with my sons, and having the strength to host one of our world-famous falafel parties. I could live again, rather than spend my remaining years in and out of doctors offices.

Thank you for reading my story. If you are interested and able to donate a kidney, there wouldn't be enough words to express my gratitude to you!

And even if you can't donate, sharing this story would mean the world to me and my family. The more people this story reaches, the more likely it will find someone who is able to donate a kidney.

If you want to learn more about my story, you can reach out to me directly through this app. Thank you again and God bless!
