Living with hypertension has been a constant battle. The strict diet, medication, the side effects from taking the medications really take a toll on the body & your mental health... Sometimes it makes you wanna just give up! But your desire to live & be there for your family, keeps you going, keeps you fighting! Right now I'm fighting my biggest battle because of hypertension.. I WANT TO LIVE, I WANT TO BE HERE FOR MY FAMILY! But having hypertension & it progressing into other things.. I'm FEARFUL that, that option may not be there for me.
I go to dialysis 3 times a week. Dialysis changes your life in a major way, it truly turns your world upside down! I can't work like a normal person, for example, when you are an outdoor worker dealing with the elements of nature, you're unable to keep the job because of the risk of getting sick, exposure to the elements, getting wounded or damage to your port. All of which could put your health in danger or be fatal! Dialysis also makes you very tired and weak, it sometimes affects your vision, appetite, muscles, causes cramps & depression.. Not to mention, getting stuck by needles 3 times a week & can't lift heavy objects because you can only use one arm,you can't travel like you want to especially spontaneous trips. Most importantly you can't provide for your family on a fixed income so that's makes being on dialysis very difficult for me because I'm use to being a provider.
I'm in need of a kidney transplant. I would take a deceased donor, but the average wait on the list is 3 to 10 years. A living donor would be the best option to help get me off the waiting list and back to a healthier life. So I'm asking all of you to consider being a living donor. It only takes one kidney to live a healthy life & I'm in need of just one... I've been fighting for my life for 6 years on dialysis & I refuse to give up! So if you can find it in your heart to donate your kidney or share this post to help get the word out for me, it would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks for taking the time to read, consider & share this post.. Eric :)
