LIVING Kidney DONOR NEEDED

Looking for a person to give me life again! In need of a kidney.

My name is Jessica Interiano, I have been on dialysis for about two years now. I am passionate about my children and my family. I am a certified Advanced EMT and volunteer for my fire department.

Kidney failure effects my life by having to do hemodialysis four days a week for 3 hours and than after treatment feeling bad and not being able to fine or ok to play with my children or just take care of them. I miss going on family vacations. Miss not getting up in the morning and thinking I have to get on my Diaylsis machine. I miss not having a time constraint on things I need to do get done. Transplant will be my fresh air the ability of having a somewhat normal life again. It will means better quality time with my children that ages 4,10. Having and full time job to support my children fully. Of course no more painful 2, 15 gauge needles sticks in my arm 4 days a week. I am also looking forward to being able to quench my thirst of water when I am thirsty. Being able to eat a meal without taking binder first. Can’t wait to get my life back.

There are currently 120,000 people waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant in the U.S. Of these, 100,000 await kidney transplants.

The median wait time for a kidney transplant is 3-5 years and can vary depending on health, compatibility, and where you live.

In 2014, 17,107 kidney transplants took place in the U.S. Of these, 11,570 came from deceased donors and 5,537 came from living donors.

Every 14 minutes someone is added to the kidney transplant waitlist.

A kidney from a living donor lasts longer and begins functioning more quickly than a kidney from a deceased donor.

In 1995, kidney donation became minimally invasive with a procedure called laparoscopic nephrectomy, which only requires four small incisions. Hospital stay is typically only 3 days after this operation.

Not blood type compatible with your recipient to be a living donor? Kidney Paired Donation (the “kidney swap” program) enables incompatible candidates with a living donor to receive a kidney from a compatible donor.

Last year, over 700 living donor kidney transplants occurred using Kidney Paired Donation.
