I have kidney failure due to a medication that I am required to take on a daily basis. Later on I developed diabetes which requires restricted diet & more physician's visits. For over nine years, I have struggled to maintain my blood sugar & kidney levels. I am at the point that I went thru a 16 week program at the Maine Transplant Center. On 4-22-19 the team accepted me for a kidney transplant.
Kidney failure has made me very tired. My physician's
and lab visits have increased. When I had the flu in February 14 2019, my body could not handle the additional stress. I had to go to urgent care & receive IV Fluids. The results from the lab for my kidneys revealed my kidneys got worse. At this time I am not on dialysis.
Due to my age & my health a live donor would be best for me for a kidney transplant. With a live donor the operation is immediate with no wait time. On the other hand, the wait list for a deceased donor is 3 - 5 years. For example, my situation could change making me not eligible to be a candidate in 3-5 years. I would appreciate & and be thankful if you would donate your kidney and/or spread the word for me
