Brannon is my brother and only sibling. Over the years we have grown closer and I consider him one of my confidants and close friends. When we can settle on a movie (lol!) we enjoy watching them together. My brother is the comedian in the family and I've started calling him Martin Payne, Jr. (haha!). What I admire most about my brother is his positivity and strength. My brother always tries to look on the bright side of things, especially with this disease. He has remained hopeful throughout this process and that is very admirable.
Brannon's kidney failure has affected his life greatly. My brother is unable to engage in a lot of the activities he enjoys. There's certain foods he can no longer enjoy, he can not travel as easily as many people can. There is a great deal of planning and scheduling that has become a part of his life.
A transplant would mean everything to Brannon. A transplant would give him back more control over his life and the things that he enjoys. I want my brother to be able to go on a trip without having to find a dialysis center and schedule appointments during the trip. I want my brother to be able to work in, and further his career, without having to be worried about what schedule he will be given because it could conflict with his dialysis appointments. I want my brother to feel energetic and healthy. I want my brother to have a long, healthy, enjoyable and unrestricted life.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story about my brother, Brannon. I hope that if you know anyone who would be willing to become a living donor, that you would please share this story. If you don't know anyone who would want to become a donor, please share this story still. Just sharing this story gives my brother that much more of a chance in reaching his goal of getting a new kidney, and on the path to having a healthy future!
