I have Kidney Failure. After being diagnose with Hypertension at the age of 19 my blood pressure when up to to 200/140 due to fact of me not taking the medincine. A couple days after my blood pressure was control my legs sart swelling, hurting and couldn't barely walk. I went to primary dictor and he referred me to a kidney doctor that told my kidneys was failing I will have to start dialysis very soon. My kidneys stop working and began dialysis. Living with this Kidney disease has been a rough road bit with God's help I am making through. I have been dealing with this over 20 years. I am 52 years old now .I been through so much. I had various operations, Breathing tubes, almost died twice, been on home dialysis 3-4 times, had two kidney transplants from deceased donors, and had lot pain and depression. I am now waiting for my thrid kidney. I have had grafts and visuals in my legs , arms, and wrists. many cathers in the chest. I have no more spaces to put a graft or a visual that is why I am writing today to ask for your help. After my second lived it life span in 2011 I got very sick and almost took my life but God has a purposed for me so I survived. My future goal is after received my kidney is to go back to dialysis centers all over to be a advocate or a social worker to help patients like myself mentally. Also to let them know there is life on dialysis. You might cant do what use to but you can do other things to enjoy life. There is a way to make it through. I am the patient representative at my clinic and my motto to the patients is if we have to be here let us enjoy our time while wr are here. We played bingo, scramble, and word search and win prizes. We give little treat to take home. We also have movie day once a week. I wish I could do more but because lack of funds it is hard. I wish I know who to contact to set up personal funds to use for the patients to enjoyed activities while they are healed. But as future representative and advocate for all dialysis centers I will find a way when reeceived my new kidney. Thank you all for taking time to read my story , I know it was long but thank you for being patient. I look forward to your help and my new kidney. Thank you in advance! Thank you for your time and understanding in this matter.
I go on dialysis three times a week. When I first sart when I was 19 years old I had a difficult time . I couldn't control my fluid. I had a lot of pain therefore I never stay the full time . Sometimes I would on;y stay 20 minutes. I was upset and depress at times I couldn't go different places and do things I use to tired. I was tired, weak and had no energy. This last time I got sick in 2013-2014 I was really depressed. I had a heart attack, conatct a blood infection, couldn't breathe, on breathing machine, and they couldn't find no where to put a graft . I had to stay in the hospital being dialyized throug my groin. I was then move to nursing home for four months. Finally in 2015 I recovered still having trouble with cramps and staying on my full time. Finally, I say I cant take this anymore called God help me ! He did I started positive thinking and faith. I start saying today is a going be a good day. My days got better and I start to think why not make days better for all patients. So I went to social worker ask about starting a newsletter. I then proceed to do other activities for my motto was "If we have to be here let us enjoy while we are here." This last year 2018 has been hard for me in March I got sick and was hopitalized and was overloaded with fluid got that fluid off. But it seem every since them having problems with controlling my fluid. Also in this year I stop going to bathroom to urinate and that make even harder to control fluid. Sometimes I get so thrity. It is hard. Dialysis nurses, doctors, dietcians, etc. tell us to control our fluid, They don't usderstand how hard it is at times. They don't know how hard it is to sit in a chair for four hours, get stuck with needles. dont eat that eat this diet and time comsuming. That is why once I get my kidney I going go back listen to patients and be able to related to thrm cause I been through it I know how they feel, I want make thinks better for all them while they there. Let them know you can live on dialysis and still enjoy life.
