LIVING Kidney DONOR NEEDED

I am a 64yr old male. I have been Diabetic for a little over 30yrs. Doctors has tried different medications and so far nothing has help. I am currently on dialysis, in which it has been hard for me. Three days out of a week is hard for me. I am always sick. I Love to spend time with my grandkids and kids, but Holidays seems to be the only time I can do so, that’s because everyone comes to my home. I am dealing with wound healing and some vision loss. I have more than enough doctors appointments. I stay tired a lot, with no motivation to do anything. I pray every night that the next day and the day after that gets better.. Everytime my phone rings I cross my fingers that the voice on the other line is my Coordinator telling me that she has a Donor for me. Thank You so much for allowing me to share my story with you.

I go to Dialysis 3 times a week. I go to a facility and all 3 days I leave very drained and sick. Sometimes I get so sick that I have to go to the hospital. Sometimes I just go home and sleep the day away.

I will like to ask my friends and family to please pass This on to your friends and family. Please share my story as much as possible. I hope that in doing so we will get some tremendous responses from Potential Kidney Donors.

There are currently 120,000 people waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant in the U.S. Of these, 100,000 await kidney transplants.

The median wait time for a kidney transplant is 3-5 years and can vary depending on health, compatibility, and where you live.

In 2014, 17,107 kidney transplants took place in the U.S. Of these, 11,570 came from deceased donors and 5,537 came from living donors.

Every 14 minutes someone is added to the kidney transplant waitlist.

A kidney from a living donor lasts longer and begins functioning more quickly than a kidney from a deceased donor.

In 1995, kidney donation became minimally invasive with a procedure called laparoscopic nephrectomy, which only requires four small incisions. Hospital stay is typically only 3 days after this operation.

Not blood type compatible with your recipient to be a living donor? Kidney Paired Donation (the “kidney swap” program) enables incompatible candidates with a living donor to receive a kidney from a compatible donor.

Last year, over 700 living donor kidney transplants occurred using Kidney Paired Donation.
