I am John's daughter, Samantha. I consider myself an extremely lucky child, because I grew up with a dad that coordinated his personal and vocational goals towards taking care of his family above all else. My brightest memories from growing up, the kind of memories that shaped me into a happy and ambitious individual, stem from my dad's love, support, and initiative to open every possible door for his daughter. With each increasing year I've approached adulthood with a developing sense of humanity morality and its place in the world, and with this I've consequently grown to appreciate the kind of man that my father is, and how unique those qualities are.
I've watched my dad's health decline for a long time, but it was not until the diagnosis of kidney failure did I truly realize the severity of the situation. You grow up believing that nothing will happen to your parents, and that their well-being is elastic- no matter what happens, they have to bounce back. Those beliefs came in stark contrast to my family's new reality, as I've watched my dad struggle to walk, sleep, and most of all, achieve the same level of happiness in life that he used to. I see how being so sick for so long threatens my dad's sense of self. He is a business founder, owner, husband, and father, but with an ailment this severe, it is impossible for his health not to take center stage. A transplant for my dad would mean the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful life that he created for himself and his family.
My father has given so much to making himself into the strongest safety net for everyone in his life. As a daughter watching the physical decline of person that has always been strong for her, I can only do my best to communicate how important it is for us to find a solution. My family is currently searching for a living kidney donor. Therefore, it would be a great help for our friends and family to share this information, so that may reach individuals willing to consider donor evaluation. Thank you.
