I went into the hospital on the request of my PCP. Eventually I was admitted for ESRD. I spent the month of the hospital stay in emergency dialysis and various heart medications. It was so scary. I cried when they told me that my kidneys were done and I’ll need dialysis until I get a transplant.
Since my diagnosis, my life is not the old one. I miss working, freedom, and just an overall sense of well-being.
At first, I was doing hemo, but one of the nurses at the clinic told me about peritoneal dialysis. I decided that this particular method would be better for my lifestyle. Although I have more freedom, I still feel incredibly limited. It’s scary because if I don’t do treatments every night, I’ll die.
A better way of life. A chance to return to a new normal of sorts.
I need a kidney transplant. But the average wait time for a kidney transplant while on the deceased donor waiting list is 3-10 years. Living kidney donation is the best option to help me get off the waiting list and live a healthier life. That’s why I am writing to all of you. I am in need of someone to donate a kidney to me. What most people don’t know is that you only need one kidney to live a healthy life! I would appreciate it if you would consider donating your kidney and/or sharing this post to get the word out for me! That would mean so much! Thank you all for your time.”
So, for now I live my life and stay busy waiting for one to become available.
