My name is Jacek Smigelski. I have the polycystic kidney disease, "PKD". This is a genetic disorder, incurable at present, other than by a kidney transplant, which disease slowly, over the years, replaces the healthy kidney tissue and reduces the remaining function of the kidneys, leading to their ultimate failure. I am at the last stage of this disease. I was diagnosed in 1999 and since that time, my abdomen has grown to the grotesque size that it is today. This is the extra forty five or more pounds of useless fluids in my abdomen that I have to carry. Refer to the picture. I need your assistance of locating a healthy kidney for me so I can live more productive life, and not be a burden on the society or the community. In the past, I was practicing lawyer in Connecticut for about twenty six years. Throughout my legal carrier I helped many people to get out of their troubles or to solve their impending legal or other problems. Now, the tables have turned and I need such help to get out of this bind.
I do not want to sound funny, but this disease is just like a long term pregnancy. I have the extra about forty six pounds of weight in the abdomen, and suffer many aches and pains in the back. My kidney function is down to about 15% so I get dizzy and weak very often and cannot do any prolonged activity. Normal kidneys, which we take for granted, filer all the impurities and toxins out of your body, and they also regulate your vitamins, and minerals, and the blood pressure. In the case of the PKD, everything is out of whack. my blood pressure is high and under medications, and I do not filter the toxins well so they poison the body, slowly, and I also void the good minerals and the vitamins that normally should be retained by your body. Otherwise, I am fine, and keep social as much as I can, and I continue to help people. My mind is clear and sober at present. A possible transplant would totally change the quality of my life, and it would probably increase my life expectancy indefinitely.
There are situations in life of every person that there comes a time when you do need help and the assistance from the community of the people of good will. In fact, people are social creatures and they do thrive in communities, in the towns, villages, and the cities or countries. A man on his own is really useless and has very little chances of survival.
Therefore, I am asking you to share this story, and perhaps we can locate some common solution to this problem. The problem is the failing kidneys, totally not of my fault, and the best solution is the transplant of a live kidney from the enlightened donor. Even with or without such a kidney donation I will continue my efforts to help the other people. However, with a "new" kidney, I will be able to be more productive and thereby I will be better able to give back to the community what I received and still more.
