Julie Ann Castillo Needs A LIVING Kidney DONOR

Our friendship started over 30 years ago when Julie was trying out for volleyball (varsity) back in college. She was not the best but after rigorous training she came out the greatest. Right there she showed how determined and resilient she can be which to date those characters she still possesses. Julie is a not just a fighter she is a warrior. Her faith is so strong that when she falters she gets up and faces challenges head on. Her courage is admirable.

Julie is an energetic person who lives an active life. She and her husband Eph love to travel and explore. They're foodies too but unfortunately this kidney disease found a way to invade Julie's body and now she is forced to live a regimented lifestyle. A new kidney will give Julie her life back. A life full of hopes and dreams not just for herself but for all her loved ones.

I fervently hope and pray Julie finds a donor so she could live her life again without restrictions. Please help my dear friend Julie by sharing her story with the hope that it will touch somebody who can be a match. Let us spread the love. Julie keep in mind that we are in this journey together. There are currently 120,000 people waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant in the U.S. Of these, 100,000 await kidney transplants.

The median wait time for a kidney transplant is 3-5 years and can vary depending on health, compatibility, and where you live.

In 2014, 17,107 kidney transplants took place in the U.S. Of these, 11,570 came from deceased donors and 5,537 came from living donors.

Every 14 minutes someone is added to the kidney transplant waitlist.

A kidney from a living donor lasts longer and begins functioning more quickly than a kidney from a deceased donor.

In 1995, kidney donation became minimally invasive with a procedure called laparoscopic nephrectomy, which only requires four small incisions. Hospital stay is typically only 3 days after this operation.

Last year, over 700 living donor kidney transplants occurred using Kidney Paired Donation.
