I’m Chris and I have kidney failure. In 2008 I was diagnosed with Uromodlyn Kidney Disease, a genetic disease that has plagued my family for generations. Since September 2017, I’ve been on peritoneal dialysis and my health continues to decline everyday, as I wait on a living kidney donor.
As a husband, father and active community volunteer, my kidney disease impacts me and the people close to me every single day. My disease means that my body cannot get rid of uric acid, so I’ve had severe gout for the last 17 years. This has kept me from doing so many things and has brought me intense physical pain. I’m no longer able to work full time, I struggle with severe fatigue and have started experiencing some memory and cognitive issues.
Most of the activities we do as a family, are planned around my limitations and to be honest, that breaks my heart.
A living kidney donation would give me my life back.
No more hooking up to a machine to stay alive.
No more “Sorry guys, I can’t do that”, because I’m so exhausted.
A Living kidney donation would help me get off of dialysis and return to living a healthier life. It would bring energy back to my life and new life into our family.
I’m sharing this, because as of today I’ve been on the kidney transplant list for 1,618 days. I’m sharing because I am in need of someone to donate a kidney to me. Most people don’t know that you only need one kidney to live a healthy life! I would appreciate it if you would consider sharing this post to get the word out for me, in the hopes that someone may consider the gift of living kidney donation and change my life and my family’s life forever.
Thank you so much for taking time to read my story.
