I was diagnosed in 1994 with a chronic kidney disease and was placed on the kidney transplant list at UNC Chapel Hill 4 years ago. Last year I ended up having to have open heart surgery which led me to going on hemodialysis 3 times a week, for 4 hours each time. I’m only 59 years old and I need a kidney! The transplant team at UNC told me this year that due to some of my cardiac issues, I really need to get a kidney in the next year to be able to continue on the transplant list. I hope you’ll help me spread the word and share my story in hopes that I could get a living donor !
