...my heartfelt THANKS for visiting my page to briefly learn about my story…hi, may name is Julie, a kind hearted, simple minded individual, full of loving spirit and married to a devoted husband of 18 years. In 2012, I was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, stage 3. Since then, I knew my life would change, entering an uncharted path and positively knowing what I needed to do in order to lengthen my kidney disease. Then 8 years later, today, sadly my life has changed once more as I reached the end stage renal failure.
I’m now doing Peritoneal Dialysis, a treatment that I do daily before and during bedtime. I chose this type of dialysis because it allows me to maintain a normal life, stay active and most importantly, be able to remain to work full time. Although PD dialysis may sound comfortably to do as a routine, it does come with many challenges. It’s a 9-10 hour day-to-day treatment that I have to incorporate during my work schedule, leaving myself minimal or sometimes no allowed time to misuse…overall, my time management is an everyday responsibility. During treatment, I often endure sleepless nights due to uncontrollable pain such as bloating, muscle cramps and even trapped air pains. Understanding that dialysis is now a must and ‘can not be missed’ daily regimen for me, I pray each day to ask for strength and the willpower to withstand this hardship that often come with many discomforts and difficulties.
I believe in Hope, Perseverance and Chance. I’m currently 48 years of age, longing to thrive and live a healthier life and with my utmost desire, I’m yearning for an opportunity to receive a gift of life for a kidney. I’m currently waiting for a kidney transplant and have been on the transplant list for 3 years and waiting. A living kidney donation is the best opportunity for me to increase my chance of receiving this gift while the long and uncertain waiting list is full of wishful individuals also eager to receive a transplant. It’s true, we’re all born with 2 kidneys and need just 1 to live a healthy life. May I encourage my family members and dear friends in assisting me of reaching out to others, share my story, in search of voluntarily and willing to donate their kidney. I’m all ears to anyone interested wanting more information and how the process works…after all, just a thought of sharing one’s interest is already a potential possibility!
…thankful and grateful always, Julie.
