My name is Gregg Mazzoni. I'm 63 and living with kidney failure. The diagnosis was fairly recent and I've been contacting various transplant centers across the country. They all tell me it's a 4 to 8 year wait for a deceased donor kidney. I'm not sure I have that long.
I'm a retired school teacher. I taught for 25 years in NYC public schools. There is a certain satisfaction in helping kids who need it the most.
Since I've retired I spend a lot of time playing guitar (not too well) and writing songs. The best part of any day is spending time with my wife, family and friends. My mother told me long ago to treat your family like friends and your friends like family. A wonderful old man once said to me, I have no money, but I am the richest man in the world because I have my family. I can tell you, they were right. Not a day goes by that i don't think of those words and try to live up to them. There is no greater joy to me than spending time with the people I love.
I also have a great belief in a higher power. I could always count on spiritual strength to get me through and it has happened time and time again.
Modern medicine and technology are the miracles of today. I'm asking for your assistance in being part of one.
Kidney failure has changed my diet and I am much more conscientious about staying healthy. A transplant would give me more time with my loving wife and seeing my son and grandchildren continue to grow and prosper. I very much want to stay a part of their lives.
I am looking for a living kidney donor to help me stay alive and enjoy the beauty this life has to offer. Any assistance you might be able to give would make a world of difference.
