My name is Andrew (Andy) Baldelli I have been battling with Kidney Disease since 2017 and most recently Kidney Failure since April 2022
In recent years I have undergone trials and treatments that have thankfully kept me going with a good quality of life. As you know I have a wonderful, active family that I enjoy spending all my time with. A transplant, while very scary, would offer me more freedom and the ability to live a longer, healthier, more normal life. A transplant would also give me more time to do the fun things I enjoy most, especially spending time with my grandchildren and the people I love so much.
A transplant would give me a new lease on life being able to enjoy daily living without being tied to a machine would be the best. Being able to go places without limitations of time being able to be away from my home or treatment center .Able to take family vacations without taking boxes and boxes of supplies
Unfortunately, finding a match for a transplant is not as easy as writing this letter. Just ask the 100,000+ people on the waiting list for a donor just like me; sadly, many wait for years, while others don’t make it. The average wait time is five years or more for a kidney from a deceased donor. However, there is another option: receiving a kidney from a living donor – like you!
I promise you this is one of the most humbling and frightening experiences I’ve been through. Asking a family member or a friend to consider donating a kidney to me is more than difficult, it’s terrifying. But asking greatly improves my chances of getting a transplant.
You might not know a lot about the living donation process, I certainly didn’t know much before being in this health crisis. Understandably some people may be afraid about the surgery and what living with one kidney will mean for them. By visiting my website at www.thedonorapp.com, you will learn more about the process, and more about how your selflessness could benefit me and my family.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. If donating a kidney to me is something you would like to consider, I would be happy to tell you more about my story and explore the process of determining if you are a match for me.
