Lyndon Caviness Needs A LIVING Liver DONOR

Looking for a Living Liver Donor

Lyndon is my husband and has battled many digestive health issues over our time together for almost 18 years. He is a kind, compassionate person. He loved serving the community as a Senior Police Officer and a Special Victim Unit Detective. Together we enjoyed volunteering with Meals on Wheels, but had to stop due to his liver failure. We also like work in a small garden when he is capable. Scott and I spend time with our two dogs as well.

It has taken a major impact on his life because he can no longer drive due to hepatic encephalopathy which causes substantial confusion and unstable walking. He did serve as a driver instructor for the Police Department, but had to quit due to his health.I have watched him become unable to complete simple tasks such as the operation of a cell phone or the TV remote due to toxins that build in his brain. He misses going to the sport stores with me and cooking. Together we miss taking trips for fear that he will have up an episode in causing hospitalization while we are away from home. Having a transplant would mean freedom again. Freedom to go and enjoy activities that his liver failure is robbing him from doing.

A transplant would mean a new lease on life. Freedom to go to the beach without the worry of hepatic encephalopathy causing confusion and unstable conditions. He would be able to drive again and do more cooking which he enjoys.

I want to update you on recent developments concerning Scott's liver transplant. About two months ago, we were notified a living donor was found and transplant surgery was scheduled for December 9th. John's Hopkins called about 2 weeks before surgery and said the donor is no longer a match due to not passing one last step. We are extremely grateful to out donor for going through the long list of evaluations and her willingness to travel to John's Hopkins for the transplant. This unexpected news has left us feeling very sad and heartbroken. We must move forward once again with our search for either a living donor or a donor directed donation from someone who has passed. Scott is listed on the transplant list, but we realize that could take a while. Please reach out to me by private message if you, a friend or loved one would like the John's Hopkins transplant number to see if you are a match. Thank you for all you kind words, prayers, and support through our journey. We will stay #Cavstrong.
