I have known Diane for 30 years. She is the most caring and giving person, this time for once she needs to be on the receiving end. She has dedicated her life and career to helping others.
As an example: as a psychiatric nurse she deals a lot with displaced, sheltered, and homeless patients. Noticing most didn't even own decent clothing to wear she created and maintains a "donated cloth closet" where she works. This way she insured these poor patient are released with proper attire.
She absolutely need a kidney transplant to be able to move on with her life. She still works but I am sure at reduced pace and when she gets home all she can do is drag herself to bed and sleep long hours to recover from the excess of energy spent helping others.
She also has numerous other health issues and taking care of this one would probably get rid of some of the other medical problems.
Diane is a person that worries a lot and quite often see the dark side of everything. This search for a kidney donor is pretty much sucking the joy and life out of her.
In order to help you could enquire about the process as most of us do not know how it takes place. Get familiarized with it if you are unsure about donating one of your kidneys. Maybe you'll discover it's not that complicated and it's the right thing to do.
Please share this story if you are not able to give life yourself. The domino effect is so powerful. Don't think, "I'll do it later"...kidney failure is not something that as time for "later."
Thank you.
