Hello, my name is Ricardo Bass Sr., and I appreciate the opportunity to share a little about myself. I have been diagnosed with kidney failure for a little over a year now, and while this journey has come with its challenges, it has also given me a deeper sense of purpose and resilience.
I am a passionate person by nature, especially when it comes to helping others and staying connected with family and community. I strongly believe in the value of communication, understanding, and support, especially during challenging times. Before my diagnosis, I led a busy and active life, and while things have shifted, I have worked hard to stay positive and focus on what I can control. I enjoy learning new things, listening to music, and finding ways to encourage those around me who may also be facing health challenges.
Living with kidney failure has taught me to remain focused on God, patience, discipline, and the importance of advocating for my health. It has also shown me how important it is to lean on others when needed and not be afraid to share my story. I hope that by opening up about my condition, I can not only continue to grow myself but also inspire someone else along the way.
I have been diagnosed with kidney failure for a little over a year now, and while I am not currently on dialysis, the condition still has a major impact on my daily life. One of the most noticeable changes has been my loss of appetite, which has caused significant weight loss. Some days, I do not have an appetite to eat anything, and that makes it hard to keep my strength up.
Physically, I am unable to do the things I used to. Simple chores around the house have become much more difficult, and I often feel fatigued or weak. Working a regular job has also become a challenge, because most of the time, I just do not feel well enough to keep up with a full day's tasks. I have always believed in working hard and staying active, so this has been especially frustrating.
Emotionally, one of the hardest parts has been the impact on my relationships and lifestyle. I miss spending quality time with my family, friends, and community. I do not get to enjoy life the way I used to, whether it is going out, socializing, or just being present in the moment with loved ones. Kidney failure has changed my life in ways I never expected, but I am still pushing forward the best I can, one day at a time.
A kidney transplant would mean a second chance at life for me.
Living with kidney failure has taken a toll on me physically and emotionally. There are days when I feel so weak that even the simplest tasks become difficult. A transplant would give me the energy and strength to truly live again, not just get through each day, but enjoy life with my family, be present, and feel like myself again.
More than anything, a transplant would give me the chance to see my children grow up, to be there for their milestones, and to support them the way a father should. One of my greatest hopes is to see my youngest daughter graduate from high school, standing tall and proud, knowing I made it there to witness it. I also want to be there for my granddaughter, to watch her grow and cheer her on through every stage of life.
To me, a transplant is not just about improving my health; it is about restoring purpose, presence, and connection. It means getting back to the moments that matter most: being with family, making memories, and having the strength to look forward to the future with hope.
I am currently in need of a life-saving kidney transplant, and I am actively searching for a living donor. If you or someone you know might be willing to consider becoming a donor, I encourage you to take that first step. The process is confidential, and starting it simply means learning more; there is no commitment just by inquiring.
You could be the answer to a prayer, not just for me, but for my family. A transplant would give me the chance to regain my health, watch my children and granddaughter grow, and truly live again.
Even if you are not a match, you can still help in a big way. Please share my story with your friends, family, church, or community. The more people who see this, the better my chances of finding someone who can help.
To learn more about becoming a living donor, please reach out or visit a local transplant center's website for information. One share could save a life. One person could be my miracle.
I would like to take this opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you for your love and support.
