Raphael Chestnut

LIVING Kidney DONOR NEEDED

Live life with a purpose everyday.

My name is Raphael Chestnut and I am making an impassioned plea to anyone who reads my story to consider to becoming my kidney donor. I am a 51 year old father of 4; my youngest being 12 years old, and I am also a grandfather. I am passionate about fishing and anything that has to do with the Earth and God's creation. I was diagnosed with kidney disease in 2002. In September of 2022 I had the indwelling catheter placed to start my pero dialysis and taking the training to prepare myself for at home treatment. After that I ended up with hydroceles that had to be removed from my groin area on both sides and 8 weeks after that healed I started my home dialysis. My daily home dialysis process seems to be going very well. I was a regimented person beforehand so following a schedule and making sure I do all steps to keep myself sanitary and healthy is my main priority. Knowing that I need a kidney is always on my mind but I try to have a positive outlook and always assure myself with the positive affirmation "I am going to get a kidney". Having a positive outlook is always the key to a healthy peace of mind.

Since I have been diagnosed I have following the regimen set up by my renal team. I do not drink alcohol, I eat properly and do my best to maintain my health. I follow everything I need to do to keep myself healthy.

Knowing that I need a kidney is always on my mind but I try to have a positive outlook and always assure myself with the positive affirmation "I am going to get a kidney". Having a positive outlook is always the key to a healthy peace of mind. I have a excellent renal team and I have the support of my loved ones. I don't miss out on much but I am apprehensive when it comes to traveling and worrying about doing my treatments and getting my supplies from destination to destination but I am sure with time I will conquer that fear as well. I love life and I want to live and to see my children and grandchildren grow to adulthood. I am a survivor.

I pray that anyone who reads my story please find it in their heart to consider becoming my donor. Pass my story on to anyone you know and tell them to do the same. The more my story gets out to the public the better chance I have of getting a kidney. Prayers and Thanks to anyone who reads and shared my story. May God bless you.
