LIVING Kidney DONOR NEEDED

It is a Blessing to be a Blessing for someone else.

Shamekia R. Chaney. I am passionate about humanity as a whole (making a difference, positively impacting my community, fellow peers and the world in general). I am also passionate about oneday fulfilling my purpose as a motivational / inspirational speaker and life coach. My "purpose" was found after my accident, which caused my CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease) God put me on earth to spread light . I have been diagnosed with kidney failure since 2015 from the cause of my head-on collision (which I was not at fault).

I am not on dialysis as of yet, BUT I do have a port (in case I ever need it). Kidney failure affects my life tremendously; I have to get blood transfusions approximately every 60 days, because of my (CKD' Chronic Kidney Disease). I go to weekly appointments (3 days a week) for redacrit shots. Due to the circumstances I had to re-adjust my entire life; it has turned a complete 360 degrees. I moved back home with my parents because I was unable to properly care for myself with the broken bones from my accident (shattered right knee cap (replaced), broken right fibula (thigh), dislocated right pelvis, broken left pelvis (replaced with total hip replacement) and permanent left drop foot (leg brace worn daily), (CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE!!!!) (10 + surgeries & 20 + admissions in the hospital)

A KIDNEY TRANSPLANT MEANS EVERYTHING TO ME. It is a burdensome weight that I carry daily, so receiving a Kidney Transplant would be a blessing. My Life would feel brand new again and this chapter would finally come to a close once and for all. Undeniably, I would be able to pursue my dreams, goals, visions, but most of all; fulfilling my purpose in lifex which is to inspire and educate all generations about ....just how real "GOD IS" (I am proof of a living miracle).

It is a "Blessing to be a Blessing". The older I become, I realize that life is not just about what you gain from the outside world. True life comes from "within self". Life is a journey and in order for me to continue to have a bright future; live donors are needed!!! Be that "Blessing" and Help change my life for the better.

The median wait time for a kidney transplant is 3-5 years and can vary depending on health, compatibility, and where you live.

In 2014, 17,107 kidney transplants took place in the U.S. Of these, 11,570 came from deceased donors and 5,537 came from living donors.

A kidney from a living donor lasts longer and begins functioning more quickly than a kidney from a deceased donor.

In 1995, kidney donation became minimally invasive with a procedure called laparoscopic nephrectomy, which only requires four small incisions. Hospital stay is typically only 3 days after this operation.

Last year, over 700 living donor kidney transplants occurred using Kidney Paired Donation.
