LIVING Kidney DONOR NEEDED

Help me find a new lease of life!

Hi, friends- my name is Bill, and I am hoping to find a kidney donor. I am reaching out to you with the hope that you can help me widely share this news through your personal and virtual networks.

Over the past several years I have seen my kidney function decline due to Chronic Kidney Disease, to the point where I need a kidney transplant. Throughout this time I have made the necessary lifestyle adjustments and participated in all the available treatments to extend the life of my kidneys. Now the time has come to seek the lasting solution that only a transplant can provide.

I am on the national waiting list for a kidney; however, it can often take years to get a match, and there are no guarantees. I am hoping to find a living donor in order to be able to resume normal living and to eventually reduce the need for constant medical appointments and monitoring.

A living donor transplant is the best option for me because it has the best outcome and the longest lifespan for the transplanted kidney. It would also allow me to continue to be with and support my wife Camilla, with whom I just celebrated 36 years of marriage, and to participate in the lives of my nieces, grand-nephew and grand-niece.

I would be grateful if you could help me find a match by being tested and/or sharing this information with your personal network of friends, family and community.

There are currently 120,000 people waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant in the U.S. Of these, 100,000 await kidney transplants.

The median wait time for a kidney transplant is 3-5 years and can vary depending on health, compatibility, and where you live.

In 2014, 17,107 kidney transplants took place in the U.S. Of these, 11,570 came from deceased donors and 5,537 came from living donors.

Every 14 minutes someone is added to the kidney transplant waitlist.

A kidney from a living donor lasts longer and begins functioning more quickly than a kidney from a deceased donor.

In 1995, kidney donation became minimally invasive with a procedure called laparoscopic nephrectomy, which only requires four small incisions. Hospital stay is typically only 3 days after this operation.

Not blood type compatible with your recipient to be a living donor? Kidney Paired Donation (the “kidney swap” program) enables incompatible candidates with a living donor to receive a kidney from a compatible donor.

Last year, over 700 living donor kidney transplants occurred using Kidney Paired Donation.
