Kris Weaver

I come to you all asking for you to help me get my freedom back.

My name is Kris and I have kidney failure. As many of you may know, I previously received a double transplant of a kidney and a pancreas 7 years ago. However, over time, that transplanted kidney failed and I’m in the position that I am now.

I have been diagnosed with kidney failure for the last year, but the symptoms became life changing as of August of 2022. This means that three times a week for three hours each, I have to get life-saving dialysis. As you can imagine this affected my ability to work, and I was ultimately let go from my career that I worked years to get in to. It not only affects my ability to work, but my mental health and my physical health have taken a toll. I’ve lost my freedom to go where I want, when I want, to be a person that friends and family can rely on, and being a productive member of society.

Getting a transplant would mean that I can have my freedom back as a human, as a son, as a friend, etc. It would mean that I can rely on myself to 100% provide for myself. It would mean I have the option to enjoy every day just like my last and go on vacation and trips without having to worry about dialysis or a restricted diet. A transplant, to me, would mean that I’m whole again.

So my ask of anyone reading this is for help, in a big way. I need a kidney in order to achieve these goals and I’m hoping yours is a match. I know it’s incredibly scary to think about helping in this way, but I have an amazing team of duties and surgeons who are literally the best in the world! If you’re interested in becoming a living donor and a hero, you can start the donation process confidentially. And if you can’t, you can still help me by sharing my story - the more people that see it, the better! Thank you for even reading all this and any help you can provide.
