Gregory Mazzoni Needs A LIVING Kidney DONOR

I met Gregg in 1995 before he married my cousin Rainey. This will give you an idea of the kind of man he is. Rainey and I were on vacation in the Bahamas but before we left he gave her a large envelope with seven smaller ones inside one to be opened each day. I never asked her what he wrote but knowing Gregg I am sure each one said how much he loved her and still does. He is loving and generous to his family and friends. He’s always there for us. This disease has slowed him down considerably.

Gregg does not have the vitality he used to have. He tires easily and walks and climbs steps slowly. Often I see his color is very pale. He seems to have a much smaller appetite and doesn’t enjoy food like he used to. He was the epitome of a real foodie.

I am letting all know what a good man Gregg is and if anyone deserves a kidney it is him. His lease on life is being taken from a person who deserves many many more happy and healthy years. Please help.

There are currently 120,000 people waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant in the U.S. Of these, 100,000 await kidney transplants.

The median wait time for a kidney transplant is 3-5 years and can vary depending on health, compatibility, and where you live.

In 2014, 17,107 kidney transplants took place in the U.S. Of these, 11,570 came from deceased donors and 5,537 came from living donors.

Every 14 minutes someone is added to the kidney transplant waitlist.

A kidney from a living donor lasts longer and begins functioning more quickly than a kidney from a deceased donor.

In 1995, kidney donation became minimally invasive with a procedure called laparoscopic nephrectomy, which only requires four small incisions. Hospital stay is typically only 3 days after this operation.

Last year, over 700 living donor kidney transplants occurred using Kidney Paired Donation.
