Ashit Pandit & I go long back.. since the day I was born, he has been in my life! He is my uncle - my dad’s brother. Most of my childhood pictures have been clicked by him.
He is the shining star of our family as he is the youngest amongst the siblings. He is very witty, sharp, an intelligent human being. His jokes can either make you laugh or cry (the extent of lame jokes has no limit at times) but he is an amazing person and I am very lucky to have him in my life.
He lives in Connecticut with his beautiful family. No family get togethers are same without him. His smile & laugh can fill the whole room with joy. I have had a good time living with him and going on road trips.
Unfortunately, he got diagnosed with PSC few years ago which has progressed to Cirrhosis. With this bearing in mind, it has taken a huge toll on his body - mentally, physically & emotionally. Since he has been the strength of his beautiful family all along, fighting this disease has altogether affected the whole family as well.
As the disease progresses, so does the body starts to deteriorate, he has lost all of the fat on his body, he has no muscle strength left which definitely makes it hard to even pick up his own 6 year old girl. He loves playing Tennis - but having a weak body or days where you don’t feel like getting up stops him from enjoying & doing regular activities.
Getting phone calls or messages in middle of a busy day, just to be informed that Ashit uncle has been taken to the hospital - just halts the day & crushes our hearts. Fearing for the worse sometimes, but having a chance to re-live/get a better quality of life, definitely gives us hope.
A liver transplant would mean a whole different world to him & our family! It will allow him to watch his kids grow peacefully in front of his eyes & give him a better quality of life than he is living right now!
We are here urging you, if you know someone who is willing to donate a part of their liver to my uncle, please come forward & get screened!
THIS WILL SAVE A LIFE!
Please reach out! My uncle needs a living liver donor before end of 2021 to mitigate his existing condition.
